Named after the "Koi" (love) from the legendary island "Koiji Island" floating in the Shiranui Sea, and the "Ryuu" (dragon) from Ryuzan, where the mountain god Ryujin resides, this year marks the 70th Koiryuu Festival. In recent years, it has been held as a "Port Festival" with ship events at Minamata Port, attracting many visitors from inside and outside the town. Additionally, the festival is enlivened by a grand dance and parade marching through the city’s shopping streets, with participation from all citizens. This year, the ship events, parade, and grand dance will all be held simultaneously!
