Kamioka Festival is the joint annual festival of Otsu Shrine, Hakusan Shrine, and Asura Hachiman Shrine in the town, counted among the three great festivals of Hida alongside Takayama Festival and Furukawa Festival. This festival marks the arrival of spring in Hida Kamioka, with a beautiful procession of over 700 participants that resembles a Heian-era picture scroll. Large, medium, and small portable shrines (mikoshi) also join in, parading through the town while praying for household safety and the health of the people in Kamioka.
