A large tree stands prominently on a small hill, with flowers of a deep, bright reddish-purple color. In full bloom, surrounded by a backdrop of deep green, it stands out brilliantly. Located along the Nagano Shinano Line, it has become increasingly famous each year and soothes the eyes of onlookers. The tree is approximately 20 meters tall, with a trunk circumference of about 5.1 meters, and is estimated to be 130 years old. It is designated as a natural monument of Nagano Prefecture. It is located on the left soon after passing through the Sakunaka Tunnel on the Nagano Shinano Line. It is about a 15-minute drive from Zenkoji, making it very accessible. When visiting Zenkoji, be sure to also see the Oyamazakura and visit Iizuna Town.
