Kubo Zakura of Isazawa

伊佐沢の久保ザクラ
Designated as a national natural monument, this ancient tree is approximately 1200 years old. It is associated with a tragic love legend between Generalissimo Sakanoue no Tamuramaro and the daughter of the local powerful Kubo family, Otama. Supported by pillars, its branches bloom with pale pink flowers each year, exuding vitality and captivating the hearts of onlookers. Additionally, every year on the third Sunday of April at noon, the "Isazawa Nenbutsu Odori", designated as a prefectural intangible folk cultural asset, is performed beside the Kubo Sakura. Best viewing: Mid to late April 【Sakura Festival】Okitama Sakura Corridor 【Period】Early to late April (until the end of the viewing period) 【Time & Content】A sightseeing route touring the cherry blossoms along the Flower Nagai Line of Yamagata Railway in the southern part of Yamagata Prefecture.
