There are 2,000 cherry blossom trees, including Somei Yoshino and Yamazakura, planted in this park. It was landscaped to commemorate the enthronement of Emperor Taisho. The park features ponds and an island with lush green Mt. Maruto as a backdrop, and is particularly impressive during the cherry blossom season. It was selected as one of Japan's 100 famous cherry blossom spots in Heisei 2 (1990).
