In the past, the Sumiyoshi area was centered around Onoda Cement, with the 'Sumiyoshi Festival' being held grandly. However, with the passage of time, such scenes gradually disappeared and eventually ceased. Now, as family ties loosen and local communities begin to crumble, there is a need for revitalizing the area and nurturing a better sense of hometown pride in the next generation. In this context, to honor the achievements of Kasai Junpachi, the founder of Onoda Cement and the first honorary citizen, and to invigorate our town and deepen the community's bonds, a decision has been made to revive this festival. It aims to contribute to the city's development while being proudly carried on as a valuable tradition and cultural event.
