During the festival period, various events such as local performing arts, Chūson-ji Noh, Mōtsū-ji Ennen no Mai, and the Benkei strength rice cake competition are held in the town. Among them, the "Yoshitsune's Eastern Descent Procession" held on the 3rd recreates the scene when Yoshitsune fled from his brother Yoritomo to Hiraizumi, where Lord Fujiwara no Hidehira joyfully welcomed him, and the townspeople rejoiced. A grand parade of about 100 people from Mōtsū-ji to Chūson-ji brightly adorns spring-time Hiraizumi.
