Red and white flags and banners flutter in the breeze as dozens of Genpei battle ships recreate a battle scene. On land, a parade of Genpei warriors, court ladies, and child warriors takes place. Performers such as Emperor Antoku, Shizuka Gozen, and Musashibo Benkei, along with other Genpei warriors, are selected through a public recruitment process.
