Wish Dance

願人踊
After performing a dedicatory dance at the Ichinichiichi Shrine festival, performers visit each house to perform. With a history of about 300 years, it has been designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Akita Prefecture. The dancers, wearing women's long juban with hem tucked up and aprons tied at the waist, feature bold and rhythmic movements. During the performance, the bandit "Sadakuro" and the old man "Yoichibei" from the fifth act of the kabuki play "Kanadehon Chushingura" make appearances to perform skits, enhancing the dance.
