Sakata Festival
酒田まつり
One of the three major festivals of Shonai. As the annual festival "San'ou Matsuri" of Kamihie and Shimohie Shrines, it has been held continuously since Keicho 14 (1609) without interruption, and since Showa 54, it has been held as the "Sakata Festival" in commemoration of the Sakata Great Fire Revival.

Take the Shonai Kotsu Bus from Shonai Airport (towards Sakata) and get off at Sakata Nakamachi Bus Stop (approx. 30 minutes travel time) Take the Shonai Kotsu Bus from JR Sakata Station (towards Yunohama Onsen) and get off at the Odori Shopping Street Bus Stop (16 minutes travel time)
