The annual festival at Ryugu Shrine, a precinct of Futamiokitama Shrine, is held in conjunction. About 200 years ago, in the Kansei era (Edo period), a tsunami occurred, leaving only 5 or 6 houses standing. In the face of such massive damage, the parishioners helped one another and the entire village aided each other to recover from this disaster. Since then, to offer prayers for repose and for the safety of the village and at sea, offerings such as 'cucumber, seaweed, and pine needles' are placed on small boats and set adrift in the sea.
