Animal Exhibition — Who Are We? Where Are We Going?
どうぶつ展「わたしたちはだれ?どこへむかうの?〜WHO ARE WE? WHERE ARE WE GOING?」
In April 2025, PLAY! MUSEUM, an art museum where both adults and children can enjoy the theme of "Pictures and Words," will celebrate its 5th anniversary.
From Wednesday, April 16 to Sunday, July 6, 2025, it will host its first collaboration with the National Museum of Nature and Science for an animal-themed exhibition titled "Animal Exhibition."
In 2021, the National Museum of Nature and Science utilized its vast collection of specimens to create a traveling exhibition "WHO ARE WE: The Biology of Observation and Discovery" that explores the relationship between mammals and humans. The beautifully crafted display kits created a buzz as they toured nationwide.
The "Animal Exhibition" will use these touring kits from the National Museum of Nature and Science to present valuable materials and world-class animal specimen collections. Inspired by the concept of "WHO ARE WE," five experiential installations will be featured, including <Smile Forest>, <Pattern Planet>, and <Amazing Tails>. Additionally, a space called "Utopia," showcasing works from 9 contemporary artists including Kohei Nawa and Miwa Komichi, alongside unique planning displays and experiences by PLAY! MUSEUM, will provoke thoughts about who we are and where we are heading.
Experience the wonders of animals, be surprised, and let your eyes sparkle. This unprecedented exhibition combines the accumulated research and materials presented by the National Museum of Nature and Science with the imaginative expression facilitated by the art museum PLAY! MUSEUM.
